Princess Leia

The force is strong with our children!!

What to do?

I'm not too sure what to do about Kevin & Lydia. They have always been very fond of each other but our recent trip has shown us just how close they're getting. After this display of affection during a demonstration in Nauvoo Lydia decided to kiss Kevin. Thankfully Kevin wasn't too excited about it and told Mindy that it was gross. After explaining to my daughter that she should only kiss her family and no one else until she was married she gave out a big sigh and said, "But mom I can't wait that long!"

Our First Family Vacation

Our first family vacation was a success. We started off in the Wisconsin Dells for two nights then headed down to Nauvoo, Illinois for a couple of days. The kids definitely enjoyed the water park the most but we all enjoyed learning more about the pioneers.

It was a really good time and we are so thankful that we got to enjoy it with some good friends.

Science Museum

Once I found out that there was a Star Wars exhibit at the Science Museum I knew that John would have to go. He has loved that the kids seem to enjoy the Star Wars saga as much as him. They watch the movies and play Lego Star Wars whenever they can.

It was a lot of fun going to see all the costumes and the other fun exhibits they have. Lydia enjoyed swabbing the giant nose the most. We also got a fabulous picture of her taken as Princess Leia. They cropped out her head and stuck it onto Leia's body. It's hilarious! As soon as I get a scanner (hint, hint John) I'll post the picture.

As many of you already know today was my first day in the Primary Presidency. It also was my first day teaching a lesson to a whole bunch of kids ages 4 to 11. It went pretty well, but I was nervous. I had no clue how to keep the little kids engaged or how to talk to 8 to 11 year olds.

Well I guess I didn't realize how nervous. Lydia had caught on and was telling me all day how excited she was. When class started Lydia offered to say the opening prayer. I am so used to hearing her say prayers, for a four year old she is incredibly insightful and definitely feels the spirit.

When she got up there she bowed her head and said, "Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for today. Please bless my mommy that she will have a fun day and have fun teaching us our lesson...". there was more but I don't remember.

Isn't that so sweet!?!
